Is This The Meanest Birthday Cake Ever?

A birthday is usually a time of celebration and happiness – hence why we sing happy birthday – but we’re not sure the receiver of this cake would have been smiling. That’s because, rather than the traditional “Happy [insert age here] Birthday [insert name here]”, they got a message that we feel is a little too close to the bone. The icing reads: “you’re unemployed, childless, and now 34… get your sh*t together!” A "not-so-subtle birthday cake" (image via Imgur/evewassetup). The cake-giver clearly hasn’t listened to Baz Luhrmann’s Sunscreen Song which tells us that some of the most interesting people at 40 still don’t know what they want to with their lives. Also, 34 is not old nor is there an official age at which point you NEED to have children. Anyway, an image of the cake was uploaded to Reddit and Imgur (by a user with the name ‘evewassetup’). They described it as a “not-so-subtle birthday cake.” Now we don’t know if perhaps it’s some sort of inside joke but if we got this, we’d be pretty taken aback… we’d then get over it very quickly by eating the cake (which does look delicious).
