In the old school cartoons, the makers just seemed to omit fingernails from the lead characters.
The female characters aren't alone in the no fingernail situation, with some key male characters not having any either, but it appears the creators at Disney haven't made this decision lightly.
We thought it might be because drawing fingers nails might have been time-consuming or a waste of time, but they've given them to some less favourable characters, such as Ursula from The Little Mermaid and the evil Queen in Snow White.
We may never know why they weren't given a proper manicure.
