It's a major milestone for pregnant mums, but other people's opinions can often taint it, especially your family.
One mum experienced this when she revealed her baby's name at a garden party.
Her family was left speechless over the name and the mum was devastated.
Her friend shared on Reddit, "My friend recently had a gender reveal/baby shower/baby name reveal party.
"It was an enormous event filled with the typical gimmicky baby things. After the gender was revealed at a garden party we were moved to a blue room filled with everything blue. She had a huge table laid out with the typical "it's a boy" things and a burner cake (burn the top of the cake to reveal something underneath)."
Her baby's name was revealed when she burned the top layer of the cake off and her family was not impressed.
"She burned off the top layer to reveal his name. Her unborn child has been settled with the name Tihrys.
"Everyone's reaction was rather comical, lots of groans and confused muttering from the elder guests," the friend wrote.
"The rest of the party was really uncomfortable and weird for the expecting parents as everyone was coming up to apologise for the bakers terrible spelling/typo.
"My friend laughed it off but I could tell she was offended by it. She'd been bragging how she has the "perfect, unique name that no other child will have".
The user admitted they're not a fan of the name and also said "no child would want it".
Do you agree or did her family react poorly?
