Newlyweds behaviour after couple didn’t show up to their wedding is shocking people

Weddings can be hard to organise and choosing the guests can be a nightmare. Some couples take measures to reduce the guest-list which we can completely understand. However when couples opt for a child-free wedding,while understandable, it can make it difficult for some parents to attend. This is essentially what happened when American couple Jessica Baker and her husband didn't show up to a wedding they had RSVP'd to because their babysitter cancelled last minute. The bride and groom weren't too impressed with the fact that they didn't show up, so much so that they sent the couple a bill for the meals they would have eaten had they attended. The Bakers received a $75 (€70) bill in the post which included a service charge. It came with a note that read:

''This cost reflects the amount paid by the bride and groom for meals that were RSVP'd for, reimbursement and explanation for no show, card, call or text would be appreciated,"

Karen sent the letter into her local news station KARE 11, who posted the invoice on Facebook. A huge amount of Facebook users commented on the post, adding that the couple were rude and immature.

''That is horribly rude. No they should not have to pay. The bride and groom should realize things come up and babysitters cancel. I had about 10 people who said they were for sure coming not come. I didn't sent them an invoice. Who cares you just get on with your life. This couple needs to grow up and not be so entitled!'' One woman said. ''Sigh. It makes you wonder how successful the marriage will be when they are so very petty.'' Another person added. ''Should the couple who had to cancel because of the baby sitter charge the bride for the expenses they incurred even though they didn't get to attend the ceremony? Should they deduct the cost of the bill from what they have to spend on the gift? This is just bad behavior no matter how you look at it.'' One user said

While almost everyone was on the Bakers' side, some did point out that letting the bride and groom know would have been nice.
