‘Pitch a friend’ is the latest dating trend going viral as it launches in Ireland

Move over Bumble, Hinge and Tinder, ‘pitch a friend’  is bringing the dating experience away from our phones.

The concept of ‘pitch-a-friend’ is simple; choose your best hype guy or gal and they have three minutes to give a powerpoint presentation listing all of your green flags, dating preferences and special interests to a room of fellow singletons.

After the presentation segment ends, people in the venue have two minutes to ask questions before putting themselves forward for a date.

Speaking about the event, its creator, Lucas Chaufournue - founder of the Seattle Social Club - said: 

“With dating apps, anyone can create a perfect profile and then you show up and they don't match a single thing, right? Because it's all idealistic,” he said.

“So, that gets really stressful if you're doing that over and over. 

“Then, you're going into this connection being very nervous and that can make it really hard to sort of put on your best self.

“Dating does not have to be stressful; it does not have to feel like something you need to take a break from - it should be fun, it should be light-hearted.

“Everyone should feel comfortable going to these kinds of events.”
