Powerful video encourages men to talk about their mental health

Mental health issues affect everyone, but mental health issues among men remain hugely prominent all over the world. In Ireland alone, suicide is the leading cause of death in men aged 15-34 years, according to St. Patrick's mental health services. Rates of youth suicides in Ireland are currently the 4th highest in Europe. Early intervention and talking about the problem can reduce the risk. You may have noticed people all over social media making the 'okay' symbol to show that it is okay to talk about mental health issues. Small initiatives like this can make a big difference, by showing support for those who want to talk, but feel as though they can't. Australian men's charity Movember has released a powerful video which encourages people to reach out if they are struggling. The video entitled 'Suicide notes talk too late' gives us a stark reminder of how important it is to speak to someone if you are feeling down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDYAgurah8g In the video, we see a number of men reading out their own suicide notes. They are thankfully still here today because they spoke out when they needed help.
