Psychologist Emma Kenny, who took part in the study, said: “While women are stereotypically associated with crying, the results of this study actually show that men are now feeling that it's acceptable to show their emotions and feel crying is acceptable.
“While it is often suggested that women cry without issue, the results actually suggest that women feel embarrassed when they let their emotions show.”
More than 2,000 adults took part in the study, and over half (51 percent) said that they are a 'crier' and shed a tear at little things.
To further that, it showed that crying commonly occurred for women while watching a sad TV show or movie, where as the lads would cry when thinking of a sad memory.
Other reasons for both men and women are grief and anxiety.
And when it comes to crying for 'no reason', well, us ladies take the top spot.
