"The The Rotunda Hospital, Dublin is calling for volunteers who can crochet to help make these special octopus toys for babies in a neonatal unit. The octopus toy is believed to be of extra comfort to the teenchy tiny babies as the tentacles remind them of the umbilical cord and being inside the mother's womb. It also helps to prevent the babies from touching or trying to pull out their tubes as they have something to distract their hands instead. The pattern can be found on Rotunda Knitters page"The Rotunda Knitters is a group for women and men who donate their knitting skills and create woolly wonders for tiny tots. Their latest call has been for teddies but the group also helps to create hats, cardigans and blankets. If you can volunteer your skills you can find the knitting pattern and information on how you can donate your creations on the Rotunda Knitters page.
