Lawyer Tonja Carter wrote a piece in the Wall Street Journal explaining how she had come across the second manuscript that has now been released as Go Set A Watchman.
“I said, ‘Nelle [Lee], when I was in the safe-deposit box, I found something’,” she explained.
“She said, ‘What?’ I said, ‘It’s a manuscript of a novel called Go Set A Watchman’."
“She said, ‘It’s Go Set A Watchman’… I guess it’s finished, it’s the parent of Mockingbird."
Carter went on to explain that other papers she had discovered could be an early draft of the new release, or could in fact be a third book, ‘bridging’ the other two books.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, Lee’s Go Set a Watchman and To Kill A Mockingbird were number one and two on Amazon’s bestseller’s list as fans eagerly grabbed copies of Lee's novels.
