Same-Sex Marriage Is Officially Legal In Ireland From Today

"It's quite a moment." Monday, November 16^th, is yet another date in 2015 that will go down in history as it is officially the first day that same-sex couples can get married in Ireland. Couples can now give full notice of their intention to marry from today, while those who had given notice for a civil partnership can now marry instead if they so wish. Meanwhile, those who tied the knot abroad will also have their marriage recognized in Ireland from today. The news follows the signing of the commencement order for the Marriage Act 2015 by Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald last week. The signing of the order gives effect to the referendum which was held back in May that was supported by 62 per cent of voters.
