The sexual well-being brand have launched a campaign to have the emoji created to coincide with World AIDS Day on December 1st.
To illustrate their campaign, Durex have cited their own research which found that 84 per cent of 18-25 year olds find it easier to talk about sex using emojis than text.
Durex’s marketing director Karen Chisolm said in a statement: “Emojis of this sort will enable young people to overcome embarrassment around the discussion of safe sex, encourage conversation and raise awareness of the importance of using condoms in protecting against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV and AIDS."
The aim of the campaign is to have the emoji approved by December 1st, however once approved it could take up to a year before the character is introduced.
Still, it would be great to know it's coming...
