‘Stashing’ is the new dating trend killing Irish romances everywhere

Stashing.

Whether you knew it or not at the time, we've all been stashed at some stage in our lives. You might not have realised it was happening but after reading this, you will be able to pinpoint the lover[s] that committed this cruel deed. We'll give you a short definition of what it means to be stashed. You've been seeing this person for a couple of months and while you are not officially boyfriend and girlfriend, you're pretty sure that the pair of you are seeing each other exclusively because you hang out all of the time. They've met your friends and shared numerous drinks with them on Friday nights and they've even met your parents for Sunday dinner in your home house. However, when you think about it, you haven't had contact with any of their inner circle. You only know their friends' names because you've seen them on Facebook and they've said very little about their parents to you. We're sorry to say, but you're being stashed. The signs are pretty small but one big hitter is when they avoid any acknowledgement of your name on social media. You tag them in memes and post pictures of both of you on Facebook and Instagram but the action is never reciprocated. The Independent UK has come up with five other reasons as to why you might be getting stashed by the person you have devoted the last few months to. They suggest, for example, that if you're being stashed, it's because your not-so-significant other is "embarrassed by you" and although they want to keep you "all to themselves", they don't actually see you as a "long-term prospect".
