Add us as a preferred source on Google »A new study has found that almost 60 percent of single women would not pursue a romantic connection if their dog didn't like them.
The study, conducted by Burns Pet Nutrition, surveyed 2,022 dog parents about their dating preferences.
The findings highlighted that over half of the women surveyed (59 percent) confessed they wouldn't pursue a potential partner if they didn't pass the vibe check with their dog.
It also found that more than two-thirds (69 percent) of single women trust their dog is a good judge of character and would be able to sense if their date wasn't a good person.
Despite dogs being hailed as a 'Man's Best Friend', just 41 percent of men who participated in the survey said they would choose their dog over a potential partner if their pup didn't like them.
Millennials are the most likely generation to cool things off with a new lover if their dog disapproves - 54 percent of 25 to 34-year-olds and 53 percent of 35 to 44-year-olds.
Meanwhile, around 73 percent of all dog owners would be hesitant about seeing someone who didn't like pets, with eight out of 10 women likely to shut down a suitor who didn't like their dog.
Even more unsurprisingly, many want dogs to be a bigger topic of conversation on dating apps when getting to know people.
In terms of generation, Gen Z was also the age group most eager to see dating profiles that mention someone's likes or dislikes for pets.
Upwards of 70 percent of 18 to 24-year-olds said they would love to see a filter specifically for pets on dating apps, compared to the average of under two-thirds (62 percent) of dog parents surveyed.
It looks like a lot of us will be bringing our pups along on our next Hinge date.
