This Has Been Named The Greatest Love Letter of All Time

A poll of 1,000 people has revealed what the greatest love letter of all time is. Music legend Johnny Cash is the person behind the note and it was, of course, written for his wife June Carter Cash. He wrote the letter back in 1994 for her 65th birthday. The couple, whose relationship was explored in the Oscar-winning film Walk The Line, got married in 1968 after he split from his first wife. They spent the rest of their lives together, until June passed away in 2003. Four months later, Johnny passed away. Here’s the letter he wrote to her: It reads: “Happy Birthday Princess. We get old and get used to each other. We think alike. We read each others minds. We know what the other wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes take each other for granted. But once in a while, like today, I meditate on it and realise how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much. Happy Birthday Princess. John.” Other letters that made it into the top 10 list included one from Winston Churchill to his wife Clementine Churchill and John Keats’ note to his neighbour Fanny Brawne.
