This Irish girl’s anti-complaint letter had the best possible outcome

Kids come on in and sit down, I’ve got a story to tell you.

When I was younger, living in the ghettos of Knocklyon, I would often watch TV in the evening with my Clare mother Patty and my Dublin Dad Tom. They were great parents, were always home and very rarely ventured to the pub. This meant they occasionally partook in a beverage at home and their poison of choice happened to by Budweiser. One time Tom cracked open a Bud only to be greeted with a flat, substandard beverage. A complaint letter ensued and a few weeks later my parents were compensated with a slab of free beer. A few weeks after that I had a younger brother on the way but that’s a story for a different day. Anyway, the moral of the story is that when you complain you get free things. This is a system we employ time and time again but one Irish girl found herself upset and perplexed by the process. Amy Dunleavy is a huge fan of Lindt and saw that someone she was connected to experienced some sub-par chocolate. Amy saw that they received some edible compensation and wanted to get in on the action. Sadly, being such a large fan meant Amy hadn’t a bad word to say about the chocolatiers. Instead, she penned this heartfelt message:

“To whom it may concern, I am a massive fan of this Lindt chocolate, hands down the best I’ve come across. I am an eighteen-year-old Irish girls and I know a good chocolate bar when I taste one. Before work one day I was scrolling throw Twitter and seen that a girl had a complaint and decided to write a letter. How she found a complaint about the delicious chocolate is beyond me, but, she got a box of Lindt chocolate in the post a few days later. I thought it was fantastic that you took the time to read and acknowledge her complaint, anyway I thought to myself, if I sent in a complaint would I wake up to a free box of chocolate in the post? But there was just one problem… I didn’t have anything to complain about! So to end my letter I’d like to say thank you for being the best chocolate company and satisfying my chocolatey needs. Also if a complaint is worth a box of chocolates, maybe a compliment is too. I will remain your most faithful customer. Kind regards, Chocaholic, Amy”

Thankfully, Amy’s loyalty was rewarded with her very own free box of chocolate which proves once and for all that being nice can go a long way. Maybe if I write to Budweiser thanking them for my younger brothers I’d be compensated too. Time will tell. Thanks to sister Hannah for sending this our way.
