This 'Potato Portrait' by Kevin Abosch reportedly sold for $1.08 million, making it 15th most expensive photo ever.. pic.twitter.com/9aqEwfKIUh

Abosch told Mashable about his inspiration behind the snap: "see commonalities between humans and potatoes that speak to our relationship as individuals within a collective species. Generally, the life of a harvested potato is violent and taken for granted. I use the potato as a proxy for the ontological study of the human experience."
It was taken on a simple black background and shot with a single light source.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to take some well-lit shots of some oven chips and see how I get on.
