The good news is, there is a right way to argue which could actually improve your relationship, not impair it.
Speaking to the Huffington Post, psychotherapist Laura Young emphasised that effective communication is key, even when arguing.
She said: "The number one problem in marriage is indeed effective communication.
"This includes how to argue with your spouse and not threaten to leave the relationship during a fight, as well as how to recognize that the annoying behaviors you feel are now intolerable have probably always been there.
"Perhaps you even felt they were adorable at one point."
Laura recommends being more open-minded and figuring out what's more important to you, being right or being happy, and then maybe letting it go.
So basically that means no silent treatment, putting your partner before your ego, and not using the break-up threat as your trump card.
Got that? Okay... happy fighting.
