A Priest Compared Masturbating To Drink-Driving On Today’s LiveLine

LiveLine can sometimes bring out the worst in people, and today was truly one of those days. Joe had the editor of Catholic newspaper Alive, Father Brian McKevitt on to speak about an article which extolled the virtues of hitting your children, and people were very polarised by the topic.

One caller named Lena was on and spoke about how her children described her as 'cruel' for hitting them, but still stood by what she had done. The same woman also called same-sex marriage 'legalised sodomy', and spoke to  another caller (who has a gay daughter) about how she could be cured of her homosexuality. Wow. Father Brian himself spoke about how masturbating was immoral (ok mate), and he mentioned it in the same sentence as 'drunk driving'. So we know where he stands, then.
