Well, if you agree with that particular statement, a new study by data analysts Mintel has revealed that women are happier being single than men are because being in a relationship is harder work for women.
The data showed that 75% of single women have not actively looked for a relationship in the last year, compared to 65% of single men. The main reason cited for this 10% difference is the belief among women that being in a relationship is tough work and that they're required to work harder at maintaining a successful relationship than men.
Another interesting facet of this research showed that 61% of single women are happy being single, compared to 49% of single men.
Speaking with The Telegraph, Professor Emily Grundy, of the University of Essex, said that “there’s evidence that women spend longer on domestic tasks than men and I think they also do more emotional work - so they still do more housework and cooking and things as well as more emotional labour.”
