A brand new Penneys store in Tallaght just opened – creating 300 new jobs

Eager shoppers have already descended on the store.

Earlier today the long-awaited Penneys store at the Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght, Co. Dublin was officially opened by Taoiseach Micheál Martin, making it the first new Penneys store to open in Dublin in six years. This follows the opening of Penneys Liffey Valley back in 2016, and in total, the retailer’s 37^th store in Ireland. The new Penneys store at the Square Shopping Centre is located on the ground floor, and is one of the largest fashion stores at the shopping centre with 43,500 square feet of retail space, as well as a dedicated beauty salon, Nails, that sits inside the store. The new store has resulted in the creation of 300 new jobs for the area and is part of Primark’s commitment to invest €250 million in Ireland over the next 10 years. International expansion

As well as the opening of the new store in Tallaght, this is a significant week for Penneys and Primark, as the Irish retailer as it continues its international expansion; Primark opened its second store in the Czech Republic yesterday in the city of Brno, and tomorrow it will open its 56^th store in Spain, in San Sebastian, bringing the total number of Primark stores to 408 globally.
