This Christmas tree in Dublin is helping to achieve something remarkable

So anyone who strolls through Dublin’s Ranelagh area may have noticed a delightful Christmas tree just above SPAR. Well it may look fantastic, but it’s not quite entirely lit… yet! But there’s an exciting and magical way for all of us to help it glow. This year, SPAR teamed up with Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (CFI) in a bid to raise awareness and funds, so they created the SPAR Twitter Tree! The concept is easy-peasy. All we need to do is use the hashtag #underthetree in any tweet at all, and one bulb will light up when a particular number of tweets are reached. Best of all, when each and every one of these bulbs is glowing, SPAR is set to donate a remarkable €20,000 to CFI!!

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an inherited chronic disease which affects around 1200 children and adults in Ireland. It causes a mucus build-up in the body, resulting in serious breathing problems and lung disease. This is the fourth year that SPAR has asked us all to support the great work the magical Twitter Tree can achieve, and for the next two years, they’ll be working exclusively with CF! This year’s campaign opened with Rosanna Davison, a big supporter of CFI and Jillian McNulty, who was instrumental in getting the drug named Orkambi made available to CF sufferers in Ireland earlier this year! The drug has significant benefits - greatly enhancing life expectancy of those with CF.

This Christmas, SPAR is asking you to help raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. All you have to do is tweet #underthetree to light up the tree and help them reach their goal!  Once all the lights are illuminated, SPAR will make the substantial donation of €20,000 to Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, celebrating its first year as the official charity partner.
