A €25 million ‘cultural centre’ is being built in a random part of the city centre

A new 'cultural centre' is being built in the city centre, and it already sounds pretty cool. According to the Irish Times, An Bórd Pleanála has approved the regeneration project, which will be situated on Francis Street in the Liberties. €25 million will go into the new area which will have a 260-bedroom aparthotel, restaurant, gym, a shop, a cultural theatre and a performance arts venue. Fancy. Architect Damian Meehan said of the project: "[It will be] centred on the creation of a new urban hub that would anchor the development and also act as a catalyst for change on Francis Street, a forgotten gem in the historic heart of Dublin." The location was snapped up by business owner Anthony Byrne, who is the founder of the Tivoli Theatre. The area already has some popular spots including cocktail bar Drop Dead Twice and The Jug. We're already looking forward to this new centre being up and running.
