An English tourist is left in a critical condition after suffering assault in Dublin's city centre in the early hours of this morning.
In a statement to JOE, the Garda Press Office said Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 12.30am.
A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The scene was preserved and a technical examination has been completed.
An investigation is now under way.
Gardaí have called for any witnesses, or anyone with information or footage relating to the incident to come forward and contact Pearse Street Garda Station on 01 666 9000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
