He has been named as Edward James Watson Massey from Seaforde in Co. Down.
The young boy got into difficulty in a swimming pool in a Tenerife hotel just before 5 pm on May 22nd.
The four-year-old boy was on holiday with his family in the San Miguel de Abona area when the incident took place.
According to The Sun, the young boy got into difficulty in the hotel pool. He was rescued from the water by the hotel lifeguard.
An air ambulance and emergency services rushed to the scene following the drowning incident in Spain.
Doctors attempted to resuscitate the young boy, but he sadly passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.
His funeral notice reads:
Precious son of Richard and Joanne. Loving brother and best friend of Victoria.
"Funeral arrangements to follow. Edward will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all his friends and family circle."
"He will be cherished in our hearts forever. Our lives will never be the same without him."
