Georgina Chapman leaving Harvey Weinstein over ‘unforgivable actions’

Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman has confirmed she is leaving her husband of 10 years, Harvey Weinstein.

The couple tied the knot in 2007 and share two children together, 7-year-old India Pearl, and Dashiell Max Robert, 4. Weinstein previously said that his wife was "standing 100 per cent behind him" amid the allegations,  but the fashion designer issued a statement late Tuesday night condemning her husband's "unforgivable actions". The mum-of-two said to People:

“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. "I have chosen to leave my husband. "Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time."

Her announcement came on the same day several more accounts of the producer's alleged abuse spanning decades came to light. The controversy around the 65-year-old film producer began after a New York Times report last week which contained allegations of sexual harassment and assault from a number of women, including actress Ashley Judd. Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow both spoke about their own experiences with Weinstein, with the Shakespeare in Love actress saying she was "petrified" of his advances. And Former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, have become the latest people to publicly speak out against Weinstein. Their eldest daughter, Malia, interned for The Weinstein Co. earlier this year before she began Harvard University.
