Up until 9.30am this morning, the children had been referred to as plain ‘master’ and ‘miss’ Mountbatten-Windsor on the Buckingham Palace website's line of succession.
Now they are 'Prince Archie of Sussex' and 'Princess Lilibet of Sussex' and remain in 6th and 7th position.
Harry and Meghan have been open about their children's titles and said they will have them until they are older and choose otherwise.
Apparently the King knew that the Sussexes intended to refer to their daughter as Princess Lili and that there had been conversations about it.
A source told the Mirror: "The appropriate conversations took place ahead of Lilibet's christening."
Lilibet's christening was last Friday in California and while members of the royal family were invited, they chose not to go.
People magazine reports that the couple allegedly asked Charles, Camilla, Prince William and Kate to be there but they declined the offer.
