Homeless man found dead near Government buildings

A man who was thought to be homeless has been found dead in a tent close to the Department of Health. The discovery was made on Lad Lane, Dublin 2 on Monday morning, near Baggot Street. It is believed that the body could have been there for at least a day before being found. It comes as 115 homeless deaths were recorded last year - double the figure recorded in 2019. Sinn Fein's Eoin Ó'Broin expressed his condolences on Twitter, calling for government action to stop these tragic deaths occurring. "Another tragic and unnecessary death on our streets," he wrote. In 2020, a man’s body was found in a tent beside Leinster House, and in 2014 another man named Jonathan Corrie was discovered in a doorway on Molesworth Street.
