Niall O'Brien was on holiday on the Greek island with 20 others from his Financial Mathematics Class. Police say that the accused was not known to him.
It's been reported that he got into an altercation with another man in the early hours of Monday morning. According to police, the accused struck Niall, who then fell onto a roadway and passed away from a fatal head injury.
The autopsy report has not been released.
Several members of the young man's family have traveled to Greece over the past few days. They are currently liaising with the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust to fly out Niall's remains for a burial.
