Jessica Moore laid to rest as family tell funeral she earned 531 points in Leaving Cert

Jessica Moore was remembered as a "vibrant, funny, quirky" girl who lived her short life to the full at her funeral mass yesterday.

The 19-year-old passed away after falling ill at her debs in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway earlier this week. The funeral heard that Jessica was a "focused and determined" student who had earned 531 points in her Leaving Cert this year. She had been due to collect her results on Tuesday. Addressing the congregation at St Patrick’s Church in Bullaun, Jessica's father Brendan said that all her family had left of her was their memories.

"She will always be our vibrant, funny, quirky 19-year-old who we all loved so, so dearly and we’ll miss terribly. "We won’t get to share her 21st birthday, or her graduation. I’ll never get to walk her up the aisle."

Classmates of Jessica's attended the funeral in the uniform of her school, St Raphael's College. A recording of the teen singing the The Foggy Dew was played during the mass. Jessica became ill suddenly while attending her debs dance at Gullane's Hotel in Ballinasloe in the early hours of Monday morning. An ambulance was called and she was taken to Portiuncula Hospital in the town but was later pronounced dead.
