The forecaster has also issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for Carlow, Cavan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.
Heavy rain is expected in these parts today and overnight with a risk of spot flooding. The warning is in place until later tomorrow morning.
According to reports the bad weather will continue into next week as Ireland and the UK get the tail end of Tropical Storm Henri which is currently located on the east coast of the USA.
A spokesperson for the UK Met Office told Metro: “We will see remnants of Tropical Storm Henri towards the middle of the week but as yet it is too early to tell what shape and form it will be in and what impact it will have.”
