Met Éireann has warned of the possibility of thunderstorms as an Atlantic weather system is set to hit Ireland this week.
Conditions are to remain generally dry on Sunday with hazy sunshine breaking through. Showery outbreaks of rain will develop in parts too, turning thundery locally. Highest temperatures will reach 16 to 20 degrees.
Monday will be a generally dry day with spells of summer sunshine, however, isolated light showers may affect north and northwest coasts.
Highest temperatures over Leinster and Munster will range 16 to 20 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Connacht and Ulster will see temperatures of between 13 to 17 degrees.
After a mainly dry start to this week, it will gradually turn more unsettled as the week goes on with spells of rain developing, according to the forecaster.
Tuesday will see a dry and bright start to the day but cloud will build from the north through the morning and afternoon with outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing over the northern half of the country towards the evening.
Highest temperatures will reach 13 to 18 degrees, coolest over the northern half of the country and warmest in the south.
Wednesday will be a mostly dull and cloudy start to the day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The rain and drizzle will gradually ease through the day, with dry and bright spells developing, particularly over the western half of the country.
Highest temperatures will hit 17 to 20 degrees, possibly touching 21 degrees in parts of the country.
Thursday will be largely wet and cloudy with widespread rain. Highest temperatures will reach 14 to 18 degrees.
Current indications suggest there will be further showers or spells of rain at times to end the coming week and through the weekend, but with some sunny spells also.
