"Many teens will be in high spirits as they head out to celebrate with their friends this evening..."
Gardaí have issued some advice for teenagers receiving their Junior Cert results today.
Over 60,000 students are due to receive their results following the summer examinations earlier this year.
This is the first time ever that Junior Cert results students have received their grades on a Friday rather than a Wednesday.
Ahead of tonight's inevitable celebrations, Gardaí have issued some advice to students who will be heading out on the town.
They have asked teenagers and their parents to be "mindful" of the dangers around drinking and taking drugs.
"Many teens will be in high spirits as they head out to celebrate with their friends this evening and it is our hope that each and every one of them has a safe and enjoyable night," they said.
"If you find yourself in a scenario and sense there could be trouble, walk away. Call the Gardaí immediately if you feel the situation is getting out of hand.
"Think of the consequences for both yourself and others if you were to hit someone."
They added that students should take certain precautions to ensure themselves a good night.
These include having a plan for the night, knowing how to get home, and knowing where your phone and personal property is at all times.
There will be additional Gardaí patrolling tonight as celebrations get underway. They will be in both uniform and plain clothes.
Junior Cert results will be issued in schools across the county this morning.
They will also be available online from 4pm.
