Speaking outside the court yesterday, Mr. Fawcett said: “I’m just pleased we got a murder conviction for Savannah Brockhill."
"It’s disgusting because there were five referrals, but not one of them did anything. It’s just beyond belief, really.” Mr. Fawcett, who is Frankie Smith's grandfather, said the death of Star has ruined their family. He said Brockhill is a true monster and has wrecked their family. “To me, she was just pure evil. I just can’t believe she could do something like that to a baby girl."
“We were just a quiet, lovely family, but she ascended from the bowels of hell and just completely devastated and wrecked our family.”
Brockhill was found guilty of Star Hobson's murder, and Star's mother Frankie Smith was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child.
Star was subjected to extreme physical and psychological abuse before dying on September 22nd, 2020.
In the months leading up to her death, numerous friends and family members alerted social services with their concerns for Star's safety.
After the first referral, police and social services visited but, according to Sky News, "no concerns were raised" and the case was dropped.
Brockhill and Smith will be sentenced today.
