Status yellow temperature warning is issued for highs of 30 degrees this week

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow temperature warning across Ireland this week as temperatures are set to get into the 30s. Dare we say it, it's starting to get too hot. The forecaster said: "High temperatures continuing this week with hot conditions by day and staying very warm and humid at night. "Daytime maximum temperatures generally 27 to 30 degrees Celsius with overnight values not falling below 17 to 20 degrees." This warning comes after a weekend of heat and according to Aoife Kealy, a meteorologist from the forecaster, said that temperatures are set to stay like this until at least Thursday. Kealy told RTÉ's Morning Ireland on Monday that it is important to remember to stay safe in this type of heat as it can bring some real risks like heat exhaustion, stress and high UV levels. She added that in the current climate, Ireland is set to experience much warmer and drier weather over the coming years, as the effects of climate change are beginning to show over here. Temperatures reached as high as 29.5 degrees in Athenry on Saturday, which was recorded as the hottest day of the year so far. But as they're set to hit 30 degrees sometime in the coming days, that record might be broken. Don't mind us, we're just going on a manhunt for some air conditioning. Met Éireann are also not making us feel any better in this heat, describing it as "uncomfortably warm". The forecaster added: "Dry, hot and mostly sunny on Wednesday. Some high cloud will drift into the southwest through the afternoon, turning the sunshine more hazy here. "Uncomfortably warm and humid on Wednesday night with temperatures not falling below 15 to 18 degrees. Warmest in the west under some cloud cover, mostly clear in the east, in a light easterly breeze. "Thursday will be another hot and dry day with long spells of sunshine in most areas. Sunniest in the north and east, though it will be a little cloudier than previous days in the south and west."
