"It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today. "While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time of grief."
Winton was most well-known and celebrated for his work on nineties programme, Supermarket Sweep.
The show first aired in the US back in the '60s, but it captured the hearts and minds of Irish audiences when Winton began presenting the UK version in 1993.
Over the course of his career, Winton also presented the final of the Great British Song Contest in 1997, a dating show called The Other Half, and three series of Celebrity Fit Club.
No further details have been released about his death.
