Teenager dies in road crash in Killarney this morning

A teenager has tragically died this morning after a road collision in Killarney, Co. Kerry. The teenage boy was driving along Ross Road when the incident took place, with another seriously injured in the single-vehicle collision. Gardaí are investigating the collision which occurred at around 1.10am in the early hours of this morning. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the second, also a teenage boy, was brought to Kerry University Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. The condition of the passenger is unknown, but his injuries are said to be quite serious. According to Independent.ie, it is believed that the two teenagers are in their mid-teens, as young as 14. The scene is currently closed off this morning to allow for a technical examination and Gardaí are looking for anyone that may have information to contact them at the Killarney Garda Station on 064 6671160 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111. Gardaí have also said that the vehicle was subject to interaction with other Gardaí before the crash happened, and this has been referred to Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc). This is the second incident to occur on the roads of Killarney within 24 hours after a man in his 30s was killed in a motorcycle accident yesterday between Killarney and Milltown on the R563. The man died shortly after arriving at Kerry University Hospital at around 8pm last night, and is said to have suffered critical injuries prior. Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses in this incident to call the same numbers above.
