Fans of the iconic cartoon have been left shocked after another longtime favourite character has been killed off by producers.
The Simpsons has earned a reputation for 'predicting' mysterious world events, such as Donald Trump becoming president, the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2019 Notre Dame fire, or Richard Branson's space flight.
Seeing as the beloved series has been running for over 35 years, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that we've had to bid our farewells to some major characters. Big names such as Maude Flanders and Edna Krabappel have previously been killed off after marrying Ned Flanders.
Additionally, we've already seen glimpses into the future with the producers hinting at Marge dying before Homer and remarrying Ringo Starr in heaven. That same episode also hinted at longtime favourite bartender Mo Szyslak also being killed off in the future.
Now, if you don't want any spoilers, this is your official warning to stop reading.
In the November 16 episode, dubbed 'Sashes to Sashes', First Church Organist Alice Glick dramatically dies during a church service, shocking the congregation.
Alice Glick made her first appearance in 1991 during the second season and was initially voiced by the late Cloris Leachman and later by Tress MacNeille.
Despite Alice's appearances being sporadic, she quickly became a memorable character of the series due to her quirky personality.
However, this isn't the first time Alice has seemingly died. In season 22, she was attacked by a 'Robopet' and subsequently returned as a ghost.
Many fans have expressed they're 'grieving' the beloved character, however, others are questioning whether the show, now in its 37th season, should finally conclude.
Executive producer Tim Long has since confirmed that Alice will not be returning and her death is permanent. He humorously told People: "In a sense, Alice the organist will live forever through her music. But in another, more important sense, yep, she's dead as a doornail."
