Today looks set to be one of the hottest days of the year for some parts of Ireland

A mini-heatwave. Sunny days. Really, really hot. Generally good weather. Whatever you want to call it, there's no denying that we've been getting some seriously nice weather lately. And it looks like it's going to be continuing on for a little while longer. In fact, some parts of Ireland are looking set for the hottest day of the year today. Met Éireann forecasters have said that mist and fog patches will clear in most parts of the country this morning, which will lead to plenty of sunny spells. But while most areas will stay dry, there will be some heavy showers this afternoon - most likely in west Connacht and Munster. It will be a humid day, with temperatures reaching highs of 21C to 26C. The hottest areas of the country will be in the west and south, although it will be couple of degrees cooler in the costal areas. Wednesday will be, again, a warm and mostly dry day. There will be a mix of cloud and sunshine after the early mist and fog patches lift. Forecasters say there is a slight risk of isolated showers,  mainly over the souther counties, through the afternoon and evening. Temperatures are forecast to reach as high as 24C in some areas of the county. Thursday will be a bit cooler, and a more cloudy day overall. While there will be scattered showers throughout the day, there will also be some sunshine forecast in the mix. Temperatures will reach highs between 17C and 21C. And there won't be much change in the weather on Friday, according to forecasters. There will be varying cloud amounts and scattered showers throughout the day, with some of the rainfall heavy and thundery. There will, again, be highs of 17C to 21C.
