Tributes flood in for Irish father-of-two who died suddenly in New York

The Irish dad-of-two passed away unexpectedly in the US last week.

The family of Damian Stanley, who was from Jonesborough, Armagh, released his death notice over the weekend.

It is understood that he had been living in New York at the time of his death.

Mr Stanley is survived by his mother, two children, partner, sisters, brother, extended family, and friends.

An array of tributes for the Irishman have been posted online following the return of his body from Queen’s, New York back home to his native Jonesborough.

Many described him as a ‘great friend’.

"Damian, I can’t believe you left you so soon my friend," read one tribute.

"I’m going to miss our stupid messages on WhatsApp and our phone calls, but most of all your laugh. I’ll never forget that," said another.

A third added: "I met Damian through work, and from the minute I met him he took me under his wing, he saw a young Irish man bluffing and he helped me out a lot, I’ll be forever grateful and do the same for others."

Before his repatriation to Ireland, Mr Stanley was waked close to his home away from home in Sunnyside, Queens.

While funeral arrangements had been shared, a notice on Rip.ie today read: "Due to unforeseen circumstances the funeral arrangements are delayed until further notice."
