Tributes pour in for ‘one of a kind gentleman’ killed in motorbike crash on M50

The crash occurred yesterday afternoon around the Junction 7 at the Lucan/Palmerstown exit.

Christian Rasmussen, originally from Denmark but living in Carlow for a long time, died after his motorbike collided with a car.

Mr Rasmussen, 50s, was affectionately known as Danish Paddy.

The Devils Disciples Motorcycling Club posted a tribute to him on Facebook captioned: "RIP Danish Paddy 1% - Gone but never forgotten."

Tributes poured in with one person writing: "Ride free in the forever Chapter my brother.

"I will cherish our last bike ride today, our conversation and laughter over breakfast, that final wave from one brother to another as we went our separate ways,  only then to receive the awful news.

"A true gentleman and brother. Rest in peace Danish Paddy."

Another said: "Shocked and saddened. He was a lovely guy. Rest in peace Christian. Condolences to his family, friends and Club."

One friend added: "Totally totally broken hearted for you all. Absolutely unique character heart of gold. He was there for everyone. It was an honour and a pleasure to know him."

All southbound lanes were closed yesterday on the southbound as emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash close to Junction 7 at the Lucan/Palmerstown exit.

No other injuries were reported from the crash.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information surrounding the crash to come forward.

A spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the M50 in both directions at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
