Add us as a preferred source on Google »The weather lately has been, let's say, a little temperamental; one day we're enjoying a crisp and dry autumnal day, the next we're experiencing wind and heavy rains.
It's been hard to tell on dry days if you'll need an umbrella and on rainy days if it's too humid for a jumper.
It seems this week you can guarantee an umbrella is an essential as we're in for a spot of rain at the very least on some days and more heavy rains on others. One guarantee: there will be rain.
Met Eireann predicts that for most of today, it will be mostly cloudy and dry, with just some isolated showers. Sunny spells are expected to develop in many areas this afternoon but it will stay cloudy in the south of the country, with some patchy light rain or drizzle developing in the southwest.
Temperature will stay cool with highs of 10 to 13 degrees.
Tonight, however, will bring patchy light rain and drizzle in the southwest of Ireland. It will be quite chilly in most areas with frost possible, as temperatures fall to between 0 and 5 degrees.
It will start to become more wet and breezy tomorrow as rain spreads across Munster, south Leinster and parts of south Connacht in the morning, before making its way across the rest of the country during the afternoon.
Localised flooding is possible as the rain is expected to be heavy and thundery at times. Despite the rain, we're looking at temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees.
Wednesday will be cloudy but with some widespread outbreaks of rain, turning heavy at times, but it will be milder than recent days, with highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees. Wednesday night will bring more outbreaks of rain and it will be generally cloudy.
More outbreaks of rain continue on Thursday, but they will clear northwards through the afternoon. There will be scattered heavy showers and some sunny intervals.
Thursday night will bring more scattered showers, some heavy, along with low temperature of 10 to 13 degrees.
While Friday will have sunny spells, it will consist of scattered heavy showers too. There will be highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.
Weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled as we head into the weekend, with further spells of rain and showers expected, as well as cooler temperatures.
