Welsh woman finds Irish girl’s football that floated across the sea

This is why you always put your name on your football.

Maybe it's the luck of the Irish or maybe the universe is just trying to get us back from the trauma of what happened to Wilson on Castaway, but you don't see reunions like this everyday. Welsh woman Aline Denton posted to Facebook this week to say that she had a football that she wanted to return. It hadn't been kicked over her wall though, in fact it wasn't even from the same country. No the football in question had come all the way from Ireland and Denton was set on returning it to the Irish girl who had lost it;

"If anyone knows Aoife Ni Niocaill, her football’s just washed up on Llanrhystud beach - west Wales! Wonder how long it’s taken to get here from Ireland?"

Denton edited her post later after news had spread across social media on her find and that the original owner Aoife had been found all the way in Waterford;

"UPDATE: Brilliant news!! The post has reached Aoife's dad. Aoife lost her football near Waterford 7 days ago. Thanks to everyone who shared the post!"

Through the comments on Facebook Aoife's Dad Ruairi was able to confirm that it was his daughter's ball and that she had lost it while at Woodstown Beach in Waterford last Sunday. He also said that Aoife is only 10-years-old and that she sadly had to see the tide wash her ball away the other day unable to get it back (flashes of Wilson). Aoife is now not only delighted to have located her ball but over the moon that she had gone viral and honestly I think this was the happy story we all needed this year.
