Alexandra Burke vows to stop this on Strictly after ‘fake’ accusations

Strictly Come Dancing's Alexandra Burke has vowed to stop crying on the show so that viewers won't think she's fake. The former X Factor winner insists her reactions on the BBC dancing programme have been "100 per cent genuine". But after being labelled fake and too dramatic by social media users, she was left feeling "self conscious" and has vowed to hold back her emotions. She told Radio Times:

“The saddest thing is that I started the show completely myself – my joy and my tears were 100 per cent genuine, however [so] much people said they were fake. "But I’m now so self-conscious, I try not to react at all in case people say, ‘Oh, look, here are the fake tears again’.

"Twitter seems to have given people permission to be incredibly hurtful.

"They don’t seem to realise that I have feelings and get upset."

The 29-year-old's comments come just days after she and partner Gorka Marquez were left fighting for their place in the semi-final. Despite landing at the top of the leaderboard with Debbie McGee on Saturday night, the duo were voted into the dance off on Sunday. EastEnders' Davood Ghadami became the tenth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing.
