Amber Heard shares powerful message against domestic violence in new video

Amber Heard has spoken openly and honestly about the pain and suffering that comes with domestic violence. In a new video PSA with the actress speaks out about the thoughts and feelings that comes with domestic assault. The video is in association with Girl Gaze, a feminist platform who aim to represent intelligence, creativity, complexity and diversity of girls’ experience—across nation, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, economic background. They do so though mutli-media.

Earlier this year, Amber was granted a domestic violence restraining order against ex-husband Johnny Depp after abuse allegations were made.

In this video, the actress explains that having a support network incredibly important in her situation.

''Telling someone safe is the beginning of choosing yourself. If I hadn't had a few women, a few friends around me, how different my life would be...'' She said.

Amber went on to say that no one in that situation is alone and that awareness is key for change.

"Speak up. Raise your voice. Your voice is the most powerful thing," She conclude. "We cannot and will not, any longer, accept silence."

Worrying statistics from Women's Aid on Friday highlighted the level of domestic violence in Ireland.

It found that in the last 20 years 209 women died violently and 63% of those deaths were in the home.

Over half of the cases found that the women were murdered by a partner or an ex partner. Another 33% of women were killed by someone they knew like a brother, son, neighbour or acquaintance.
