Amy Dowden forced to pull out of Strictly return after breaking foot

Amy Dowden suffered a setback days after completing chemo.

Sharing the news, Amy posted a snap of her posing with her newly acquired boot and a disappointed look on her face.

She captioned the post, "Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo. Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot.

"Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly ballroom this year are no longer possible. This is what has kept me going for the past few months.

"2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!" She added hashtags such as "#noluck" and "#myluckwillsoonchange".

Despite undergoing treatment for breast cancer this year, the pro dancer has managed to pop up on several episodes of Strictly, much to the delight of viewers.

Her comment section was filled with messages of support from her friends and followers following her disappointing news.

Former Strictly pro and It Takes Two host Janette Manrara penned, "Oh no! Well in that case 2024 could not be coming sooner!"

While Amanda Abbington - who left this year's series for "personal reasons" - added, "Sending you the most love!!! Rest up beautiful girl," followed by a number of love heart emojis.

Since Amy's diagnosis and subsequent mastectomy and chemotherapy, the dancer has raised awareness of breast cancer and posted regular treatment updates on her social media platforms.
