Amy Schumer reveals Lyme Disease diagnosis

Amy Schumer has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. The stand up comedian and actor revealed her diagnosis this week, stating that she may have had the disease for years without knowing. She took to Instagram for advice for getting rid of the condition - and to check whether she can have a glass of wine on her current medication. "Anyone get LYME this summer?" she wrote. "I got it and I’m on doxycycline. I have maybe had it for years." "Any advice? Can you have a glass of wine or 2 on it? I know to stay out of the sun. Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection spread to human beings by infected ticks. The most common symptoms of the condition are a red skin rash, a high temperature, and muscle pain and joint swelling. If left untreated, the disease can lead to temporary paralysis of muscles in the face but despite common misconceptions, the condition can be successfully treated with antibiotics if caught early. Lavigne contracted the condition from a tick bite in 2014 and was bed-ridden for five months. She lent her support to fellow Canadian singer Bieber after he went public with his diagnosis earlier this year. "There are too many people that have this debilitating disease! People I love and care about and many friends and fans I have crossed paths with," she said. “To everyone affected by Lyme, I want to tell you that there is HOPE.
