Britney Spears’ father officially asks for conservatorship to end

Britney Spears's father Jamie has filed for the conservatorship on his daughter to end after 13 years. After Britney's very public breakdown, her father took out the conservatorship which has since controlled his daughter's life, including her finances. Legal documents were submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday and say that the singer "is entitled" to have a judge "seriously consider" whether or not this is required. They also state that over the last 13 years, Britney's circumstances have changed "to such an extent that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist." "She wants to be able to make decisions regarding her own medical care, deciding when, where and how often to get therapy. She wants to control the money she has made from her career and spend it without supervision or oversight," the documents said. "She wants to be able to get married and have a baby, if she so chooses. In short, she wants to live her life as she chooses without the constraints of a conservator or court proceeding." Jamie has also stated in the documents that Jodi Montgomery, the person who oversees Britney's personal affairs, will also be removed from her role. Britney has been fighting for her father's removal from her conservatorship and for it to end, speaking to a judge directly in a Los Angeles court in July where she referred to it as "abuse". In her testimony, the star shared some very worrying details about the way in which her personal and financial life is being managed, stating that she has an IUD in her body that she is unable to remove. "I’m not happy, I can’t sleep, I’m depressed, I cry every day," she said. "I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive. My request is to end the conservatorship without being evaluated like before."
