Britney herself has made it clear that not only does she want him removed permanently, but that she wants the conservatorship to be ended entirely.
Mr Spears, meanwhile, has said that he had been planning on stepping down anyway. However, he gave no indication as to the timeline of his withdrawal and said that he would only leave after lingering, accounting issues were resolved.
Britney's legal team's petition to have him removed from his role will be addressed in court on 29 September.
In the past, Britney has made her objections to the ongoing conservatorship very clear.
Earlier this summer, she addressed the court directly for the first time and spoke about the impact it has had on her.
The singer said: "I truly believe that this conservatorship is abusive. My request is to end the conservatorship without being evaluated like before."
