Cheryl opens up about her late friend Sarah Harding in heartbreaking interview

Cheryl has opened up about her former Girls Aloud bandmate and late friend Sarah Harding in a heartbreaking interview.

Sarah sadly passed away in August of 2021 at age 39 following a year-long battle with breast cancer, with Cheryl admitting that her death 'changed her perspective' on life. Sarah's passing has a profound impact on the Fight For This Love singer and means she now never takes anything or any day for granted, as well as bringing her 'closer' to her former bandmates from Girls Aloud: Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh and giving them all a deeper 'appreciation' and 'love' for one another. Speaking to the MailOnline Cheryl says her tragic death gave their friendship an added depth. "We always have loved each other, obviously. But it's just a different, there's a different depth to it all now." In their friends honour, the surviving band members reunited at a charity gala for the Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal last year. [caption id="attachment_588851" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Credit: IG: @cherylofficial[/caption] Cheryl said conversations she had with her late friend 'really sparked a different perspective' for her that she'll carry with her and sadly confessed that she didn't think Sarah was ready to go when she did. "She wasn't ready to leave and I think, ‘well I'm still here’ I've got the gift of life to still live, and I'll do it with her in mind. It does shift a lot of things in your own heart."

Sarah's legacy still lives on long after her passing as her doctor, Dr Sacha Howell, who diagnosed her with cancer before she died, wants every woman in the UK to be invited for and undergo a risk screening when they turn 30.
