The original Halloween film hit cinemas on 25 October 1978, and found Jamie Lee Curtis playing the iconic Laurie Strode, as she and her friends were brutally killed one by one by escaped mental patient Michael Myers. Over the course of the film series, Curtis did return for Halloween II, when we find out that she is actually Michael's long-lost sister, hence his fixation on her. In 1988's Halloween IV: The Return Of Michael Myers, we're told that Laurie is dead, and the film picks up with her young daughter as the main protagonist. Then, in 1997, on the 20th anniversary of the original movie, Curtis reprised the role of Laurie for Halloween H20, which kind of rewrites some of Laurie's past (the daughter no longer exists, but she does have a son now) and we find out that she has been in a kind of witness protection program, in hiding from her killer brother. Finally, in 2002, Laurie was killed by Michael in Halloween: Resurrection, and that ... should have been that, really. Apparently not though, as Curtis will be back, this time directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Eastbound & Down), with a script co-written by Danny McBride (who made some dramatic strides being one of the highlights in this year's Alien: Covenant). How exactly they're going to tie up the multiple deaths of their leading character remains to be seen, but between this and IT, expect a lot of big-name horror productions to be getting back on the big screen before long.
